Halloween falls in mid-term week this year

Halloween is Saturday 31 October 2026. Schools close from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October. Citizens Information lists Monday 26 October as the October public holiday. That makes the whole week busy for families who need Halloween childcare in Ireland.

Many sitters are asked for several nights that week. Others are away or have their own children at home. If you leave it until the weekend, your choice may be small.

Plan the week as a whole. Work out which days you need cover, and which is the Halloween night itself. Your babysitter Halloween Ireland search works best when it starts with those dates. Our guide to school-holiday babysitters shows how to plan cover for every break in the school year.

Book a babysitter Halloween Ireland parents can rely on

Message your sitter now, not on Thursday. Give the exact date, start time and finish time. Say whether you will be home before bedtime, and ask for a clear yes or no.

If your usual sitter is busy, ask two or three others at once. It helps to meet a new person before the night. A short visit lets the children say hello while you are still there, and shows if this babysitter Halloween Ireland choice suits your family.

For a wider choice, see the Meath babysitter profiles and message a few sitters. A babysitter for Halloween night in Ireland is easier to find a week ahead than on the day itself.

Agree the plan for the night

Halloween is not a normal evening. Doorbells ring, children run between houses and costumes hide faces. A short plan stops confusion later.
